Project outline:Project achievements and outcomes:The Sustainable Landscapes Program offered cash incentives for Land managers to implement activities improve the condition of natural resources in the region. Land managers could receive 10-40% of the total cost of implementing an activity, depending on its type and priority.
PCL’s role in this program was to provide training/information sessions (with Phil Trendell from Mackay Whitsunday NRM Group), conduct site assessments, assist landholders to develop property management plans, run field trips to properties and publish landholder profiles and Placestories.
PCL delivered 119 revegetation projects to landholders, with a total amount of $311,075 given to assist with removing weeds such as lantana and to purchase native trees. PCL also delivered a large component of the reporting and administration for the Program in 2008.
